Team - CAStudios in collaboration with Aspect Studios
Dandenong has no river, no lake, no beach and no mountains. Despite having no obvious or recognisable geographic feature; water and geology have, in fact, combined in a unique way on this site: resulting in the location of modern day Dandenong being used as a stopping place - utilised by both aboriginal and post-colonial groups.
Due to the absence of an obvious landmark, Dandenong must look to itself as a consciously constructed place when it seeks to revitalise, reinvigorate and re-brand itself. Dandenong's strength and defining characteristic is its people; its diverse, aspirational, outward looking communities. It must therefore explore the richness of its cultural particularity and unique mix of materials, social and cultural histories, and local and global connections.
